Average UK house prices rose in 25 of the last 30 years
UK house prices have risen in 25 of the last 30 years, but only 14% of homes saw value increases every year between 2021 and 2026, according to Zoopla. Northern regions proved most resilient, with the North West leading for consistent growth, while higher mortgage rates had a greater impact on southern markets. Overall, the average UK home increased in value by 15.3% (£36,100) over the five-year period.

Private rents rise 3.3%, house prices up
UK rental growth remained steady at 3.3% in the year to June, pushing average monthly rents to £1,388, according to the ONS. Meanwhile, UK house prices rose 2.7% to an average of £271,000 in the year to May, although growth slowed from 3.9% in April. Regional variations remain significant, with the North East seeing the strongest rent growth and Wales and Scotland recording the fastest house price increases.
